I thought I would share a card I taught in my Wednesday night class a week ago, showcasing the Bright & Beautiful stamp set from the upcoming Holiday catalogue, along with the Stars framelits shown on page 231 of our main catalogue.
My class attendees really liked this card, for the simple but classic style and also the super efficient use of materials! At first glance this card might look like I cut a star from Cherry Cobbler cardstock and put it on top of a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was then on top of the Cherry Cobbler base card. But no! If you look closely, what I did was to die cut the largest star from the white mat, then stamp and emboss the gold star using the star-shaped piece of cardstock that came out from that first die cut. After die cutting the stamped star, I popped that up on Stampin' Dimensionals and added an adhesive rhinestone to the centre that I'd coloured using one of the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities markers. You might be able to see it more easily in this pic:
My guests were happy to also have the 'scrap' die cut outline of a star left over after the second die cutting for this project (sorry I don't have a photo of that), they all took them home to use for something else! If you had enough of them you could throw them on your Christmas tree this year and who cares if they get damaged, because they're scraps from the cards, after all!
Of course as usual, the project wouldn't be complete without a little decoration of the inside and the envelope - which we did with gold embossing again, to match. (Warmed up my house nicely that night, having the heat gun going a lot!).
I'm a bit slow to share all of this, but for the month of August Stampin' Up! has a fabulous Big Shot offer for us! When you purchase the Big Shot this month, you get to choose a free stamp set and framelit bundle from a special selection. Or if you've already got the Big Shot, you can buy your selected bundle at an awesome 15% discount! Check out the details here:
The details are a bit hard to read on that flyer so here's the nitty gritty details in a bigger table in case you need them, click on the picture to make it bigger (please ignore the Australian prices if you're in NZ, it's the NZD column you want to read!)
Be sure to come back soon as I've signed up to take part in my very first blog hop, to celebrate the opening of the Holiday Catalogue on Thursday August 28th. If you want to come to a live celebration of the Holiday Catalogue, I'm having a little launch party for it this coming Saturday! Check out my sidebar for the details or just send me a quick email (click here) and I'll give you all the details you need!
